About Me

 

I am an electrophysiologist at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute specializing in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. My clinical interests are complex arrhythmia management, particularly Ventricular tachycardia (VT) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), re-do atrial fibrillation, left atrial arrhythmias and supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). I have special expertise in catheter ablation of arrhythmias on the outside of the heart (epicardial VT) and cardiac lead extraction.

I completed internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship training at the University of Miami before going to Charleston, South Carolina, to further specialize in cardiac electrophysiology. At the Medical University of South Carolina, I was trained by leaders in the field in complex catheter ablation, lead extraction and cardiac pacing. Today, I am one of only 5 percent of female cardiac electrophysiologist operators in the country.

Heart disease continues to be a leading cause of death, and as an electrophysiologist, I am passionate about treating preventable causes of sudden cardiac death, decreasing the number of medications a patient needs and performing highly curative and lifesaving procedures that improve a patient’s quality of life.

When working with patients and their families, I ensure their concerns are heard and thoroughly addressed. I empower them with tools, information and support to help them manage their heart condition.

In addition to caring for patients, I have also published extensively on different aspects of heart disease, with a focus on arrhythmia in advanced heart failure patients. I have also been the principal investigator of several projects and the recipient of grant support for my research.
