About Me

I am an orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Memorial Healthcare System. I currently serve as medical director for the division of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar (West Operations).  At Memorial Hospital West, I serve as director of the Joint Replacement Center, chief of the Department of Surgery and chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery.

I treat patients with a variety of sports and everyday injuries as well as degenerative conditions. I perform joint reconstruction (hip and knee replacement) and arthroscopic surgery (hip, knee and shoulder), and I also treat hip and knee arthritis, chronic/overuse injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers/thumbs and tendon tears.

My father was a radiologist in South Florida for more than 50 years and instilled in me a passion for medicine and a commitment to lifelong learning. His pioneering work at a facility that was the first to bring CT and MRI scanners to South Florida inspired me to follow in his footsteps.

After being exposed to medicine at a young age, I became interested in orthopaedics and sports medicine as I progressed through medical school. I liked the combination of mechanics and function and the extensive progress made over the past century regarding fracture management, rehabilitation, ligament reconstruction and arthroscopy.  I witnessed the growth of arthroscopic surgery during my training, and I have continued to apply more and more advanced arthroscopic techniques in my practice—including shoulder rotator cuff repair, hip and shoulder labral repair, knee meniscal repair and even meniscus transplantation.  From the standpoint of joint reconstruction, I have particularly enjoyed the development and application of robotically assisted hip and knee replacement surgery over the past several years.

The most satisfying part of my practice has always been the patient interactions.  I pride myself on spending a lot of time with my patients, getting to know them personally and learning how their current problems impact their daily activities and quality of life.  Ultimately, the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing my patients return to their activities, whether walking pain-free for the first time in years after a hip or knee replacement or getting back to tennis or pickleball after a rotator cuff repair.

At Memorial, we are committed to improving standards of care and patient outcomes. As part of this commitment, we participate in the American Joint Replacement Registry.  This involves collecting data on all hip and knee replacements done at Memorial West for use in national data-based research initiatives. These initiatives are instrumental in advancing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
