About Me
I am a primary care physician and internist at Memorial Healthcare System. I care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. These include chronic hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and thyroid conditions, as well as acute viral illnesses, urinary tract infections, rashes, etc. I also specialize in women's health and provide annual well-woman exams, breast exams and pap smears.
As a primary care physician, I enjoy providing continuity of care for my patients and, in many cases, their families as well. I cherish the long-lasting relationships I have forged with my patients over the past 20 years. It’s very satisfying to help patients manage and improve their health and help them live longer and healthier lives.
I believe that effective communication between a patient and their doctor is essential for a trusting relationship and to help them successfully manage their health. I always try to educate my patients about their conditions, treatments and options so that they can take an active role in their healthcare while also feeling confident that I am always here as a resource.
My family is from Peru, and I have found that my background helps me understand many of the cultural aspects of health in the Latino community that can sometimes prevent people from seeing a doctor or hesitate to receive treatments that are different from how things are done in their home countries. This insight is very helpful in getting patients to change habits that lead to poor health and to understand why treatment of some conditions are very important.
When I’m not in the office caring for patients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids.
