About Me
Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, I spent 28 years as an academic physician teaching pulmonary and critical care medicine to trainees of all levels. My role at Memorial Regional Hospital will be providing care in the intensive care units.
Medicine was the logical progression from an interest in biology and science, and a desire to have a positive impact on the world. My role is to optimize the care of the patients and families under my care, providing the information they need to understand their illness and its likely course, and then guiding them through the most appropriate course of treatment.
Along with my patient care responsibilities, I will be maintaining a teaching role at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and its major teaching hospital, as well as with the American College of Chest Physicians. Before joining Memorial, I spent 13 years as a staff physician at Rhode Island Hospital and as medical director of respiratory therapy and director of the pulmonary fellows’ clinic. Prior to that, I served as a staff and teaching physician with teaching hospitals associated with University of Massachusetts Medical School and Harvard Medical School for 14 years.
When I am not at the hospital or teaching, I enjoy long distance bike riding and skiing as much as scheduling allows in the winter months.
