(Pembroke Pines, Fla. – November 14, 2024) – Memorial Cancer Institute at Memorial Hospital West proudly marked the beginning of Lung Cancer Awareness Month with a successful event featuring the Thoracic Oncology Mobile Experience (TOME) Truck. This innovative event showcased cutting-edge advancements in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, drawing a diverse audience eager to learn and engage.

Attendees, including high school and college students, participated in hands-on experiences with state-of-the-art surgical robots, including Intuitive’s Ion and da Vinci, as well as other diagnostic technologies. The TOME Truck, an impressive 18-wheel, 80,000-pound mobile laboratory, served as an educational hub, highlighting the benefits of less invasive cancer care options.

An added feature of the event was the interactive ‘MEGA Lungs’ exhibit—a striking 9-foot inflatable structure designed to raise awareness about lung cancer and the dangers of vaping. Attendees engaged with surgeons, medical oncologists, and clinical team members, gaining valuable insights into cancer prevention, early detection, and the role of robotic technology in enhancing patient care.

The event not only informed but also fostered a strong sense of community, encouraging attendees to take an active role in lung cancer awareness and prevention.
