About Me
I am a hematologist/oncologist and chair and medical director of Moffitt Malignant Hematology & Cellular Therapy at Memorial Healthcare System. My clinical and research interests include therapies for acute myeloid and lymphoid disorders, developing new transplant conditioning regimens for patients with myeloid leukemia and expanding transplantation options for the elderly.
During my medical training, many of my professors and mentors were oncologists who spurred my interest in the field. Treating cancer is very scientific and requires deep work with cells, but it is also coupled with the need to connect and sustain people through their diagnosis and treatment.
At Memorial, we focus on this vital blend of expertise and caring to provide a good quantity and quality of life for all in our care.
In addition to providing patient care, I am a professor of oncology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. I have published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and am an ad hoc reviewer for various professional journals. I’m also a member of several medical organizations and a board member for the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cell Therapy and the Moffitt Medical Group.
Before joining Moffitt, I was an associate professor of clinical medicine and director of the bone marrow transplant program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
