Memorial Healthcare System's Norman Ajiboye, MD Receives the Prestigious United States President's Lifetime Achievement Award

On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York City, Memorial Healthcare System’s Norman Ajiboye, MD, received the United States President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This prestigious recognition includes a presidential medallion, a pin, and a certificate signed by President Joe Biden. Additionally, Dr. Ajiboye received the United States Congressional Proclamation from the New York Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, “The Key to the City of New York” Award, and the Conscience Clock Award from the Federation of World Peace and Love. As the Medical Director of Stroke Programs at Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Dr. Ajiboye is a leading member of Memorial Neuroscience Institute.
The president’s lifetime achievement award recognizes individuals whose dedicated service enriches communities across the nation and inspires others to take meaningful action. As a global health strategist Dr. Ajiboye has led trips to the Caribbean to educate and mentor neuroendovascular surgeons while providing free surgical devices and free neuroendovascular surgeries to patients.

Dr. Ajiboye was the founder of the “Health Disparities Certification Program” at Texas Christian University School of Medicine to combat regional health inequities in 2019; he was integral in the recruitment of a diverse medical student body as a member of the medical school’s admissions committee. He was instrumental in the development of a not-for-profit community health clinic to assist in the delivery of free healthcare to uninsured and under-insured individuals and families in Dallas, Texas in 2018.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ajiboye has received numerous awards and accolades including the “Castle Connolly Top Doctors in America” with the “Top American Doctor” awards in 2023 and 2024 as well as the “Award of Excellence” for dedication, hard work, and leadership to stroke care from the South Broward Hospital District in 2023. Additional awards and recognitions received by Dr. Ajiboye include a proclamation from the City of Tamarac as a modern-day trailblazer as well as recognition from the National Minority Quality Forum’s “The 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health”.
Dr. Ajiboye is trained in both medical and neuroendovascular surgical management of complex vascular diseases affecting the brain and spinal cord. He is also involved in the treatment of cerebral vasospasm, endovascular tumor embolization, refractory epistaxis, and intra-arterial mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke.
Passionate about educating future physicians, Dr. Ajiboye received “Physician Teacher of the Year” for innovative teaching, dedicated service, and ongoing commitment to student education at American Heritage in 2023 and 2024. Dr. Ajiboye is also proud to serve as a role model, providing guidance to at-risk students by volunteering as a mentor in the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project. Along with his involvement in student training, Dr. Ajiboye has published several peer-reviewed articles, written book chapters, served as principal investigator of innovative clinical trials, and lectured at national and international conferences.
